My name is Sofia Hueffer, I’m British, Dutch and Italian and I’m running for the role of chair for the EFDS society in hopes that I can assist with organising events to help with preparing for careers in fields relevant to all aspects of our course.
I have multiple different experiences with various companies and have recently completed a 6-week summer internship at ‘My Community Bank’, which I now continue to work at, and an insight week last year at ‘PwC’. My experience at My Community Bank which touched on all three aspects of our course will greatly assist me with understanding these companies needs when communicating with them in order to organise different events for this society, in properly relaying such information to the rest of the society and in allowing me to properly pick the right companies and talks that will help our course the most in our career journey.
Within the role of chair for this society I would organise events such as networking with other companies relevant to our degree ranging from big financial institutions, to fintechs, to consulting start-ups; networking with other people within the business school in order to meet the people we will be working with in the future; lectures from other companies about the process of getting internships and graduate roles within their company; and seminars on how best to prepare for your career journey from CV and cover letter writing help to what internships and qualifications are needed for different roles.
