ICSMSU: Welfare Chair
Heyyyy I’m Kete, your current Welfare Vice-Chair for reps. Over the past 2 years I’ve been involved in lots of great work with the welfare team through my roles as year rep and vice chair including increasing welfare awareness, tackling academic related welfare issues, supporting some amazing campaigns and providing student support where needed.
As Welfare Chair I would like to:
- Collaborate with the VCWR and academics to revamp SSLG structures, ensuring student feedback reaches faculty effectively.
- Foster a stronger sense of community within ICSM to combat loneliness and enhance belonging by working with the campaigns vice chair to arrange a timeline of welfare events to relax and destress for example Welfare Walks and arts and crafts activities that involve everyone.
- Push for your student spaces to be looked after and ensure they have all the amenities necessary as you should all be able to go to relax and take time for yourselves.
- Advocate for travel support and funding but also share everything that is already out there to support students.
- Continue the work of our current Welfare Chair, Lilia, in enhancing EDI within the MBBS program, ensuring all students feel welcome and valued.
I think my prior experience, my approachable and caring nature as well as the close relationship I have formed with FEO welfare will allow me to be the best advocate for your needs in times of concern, struggle and hardship and hopefully make me a great candidate for the role.
