Mechanical Engineering (UG): Departmental Academic Representative

Hi MechEng, my name is Beatriz, and I'm one of your current Dep Reps. I'm running to be your Rep again because, as I have been since the beginning of my time at Imperial, I'm passionate about making sure we all get the most out of our experience at this incredible university. During this year as Dep Rep, I've worked hard with Year Reps, Staff and the Union to spearhead change on issues like increasing transparency and good practice in exam processes, as well as implementing reviews on staff and student workload in order to reduce it.

Some of our achievements since last year are:

Releasing documents detailing pre and post-exam processes
Organizing MExhibition, the first undergraduate student-led showcase
Solving module specific issues by liasing with staff and students (e.g. Machine Learning, ADM, Computing, MPT, etc.)
Collaborating with staff to update the Data and Formula booklet (to be published)

Amongst many other ongoing initiatives: a personal mission of mine being updating AI usage policy in the department with current developments of the technology, as well as organizing an 'Experts Wiki' to connect staff and students based on areas of academic interest.

I have a lot of experience with the procedural aspects of the role, such as attending and chairing meetings, and in my years as Dep Rep, have created strong communication channels with the Department and the Union alike. I would be honoured to represent MechEng one final year, so vote for me!
