I’m Yousuf, and I’m running to be your next Academic Chair. I’ve been an academic rep for the past 3 years, and I’ve also been on SU this year as Academic Officer for Early Years. I’ve held multiple roles within academic societies and to date have been involved in the running of 15 different clinical mocks!

What I would focus on next year:

SSLGs:

• Engagement with academic surveys is poor – we need to redesign academic surveys to be concise and engaging.
• No one knows what happens in SSLGs - we need to increase transparency in SSLG meetings to keep students informed about faculty discussions

Y5/6 PACES:

• Upgrade mock finals to include all stations and use real patients - societies have proved that this is possible, and these changes would be a natural evolution of the faculty collaboration that was launched this year
• Collaborate with faculty to produce next year's Y5 mock PACES

Support for Non-Academic Society Mocks:

• Assist with mark schemes, room bookings, and logistics, providing a 'mock guide' for non-academic societies

AI-Generated Question Bank for Preclinical Years:

• Utilise OpenAI’s custom GPT tools to create a question bank for pre-clinical years, ensuring quality through faculty or society collaboration.

NHS Updates (UKFPO changes, strikes):

• We are facing an unprecedented level of uncertainty regarding our future careers
• Guidance, advice, and open forums with faculty involvement would serve as a useful tool to help students plan and make strategic decisions
