Ella Haythornthwaite

I’m Ella and I’d love to be your CC next year! I can honestly say joining the hockey club was THE BEST decision I’ve made since coming to uni and I want EVERYONE experience what this club has to offer.

During my time in ICSMLHC I’ve been socialsec and 3s captain, meaning I am well equipped to tackle both the sports and social calendars for the year.

Aims

• advocate for the club with IA and the union on key issues such as varsity dates + the never ending transport problem
• Finalise the sponsorship deal to get extra funding

Freshers

• Book bar at Indian gymkhana for initial bonding after funday
• establish fresher buddy system
• Relaxed social after freshers (baking/ pottery etc)

Team development

• collaborate with coaches+captains to make sure every team is getting the most from training, improving skills and having fun!!
• Focus on developing players and integrating teams
• ensure each team gets individual, specific feedback after training
• socials for getting to know new players and team bonding

Socials

• Variety of socials including chilled nights like tea/crochet/crafts/food.
• costume of the week and other fun challenges

Welfare

• make the club a really supportive place for everyone
• Regular committee meetings to ensure everyone feels supported in their roles and works as a team

I’ve had so much fun captaining the 3s this year and the club is bigger and better than ever!!

I hope to maintain the culture and vibe that we all love so much and can’t wait for another amazing season
