T-Yan Chia

Hi folks, I'm T-Yan, a 1st Year Materials student. I'm running for President and Treasurer :)

I have been quite involved with the Imperial College Singapore Society (ICSS) over the past few months and it has really provided a comforting presence in foreign London. The engaging activities, intriguing career talks and interlinked student network have all been meticulously planned and I want to be involved in the process to optmise the experiences for incoming and current ICSS members.

More than a haven, I believe that ICSS can also be a platform of opportunities for people to springboard off. As President of ICSS, I want to try to integrate more career opportunities into the ICSS benefits, liaising with Singaporean companies to connect them to Imperial students. My past internship and leadership experiences has familiarised me with the hiring process and coordinating with external organisations and the acquired skills will serve me well in this role.

As Treasurer, I will uphold utmost scrutiny for all ICSS activity plans and transactions to make sure that they are financially responsible and will be conscientious with purchasing and accounting. Anything involving the union will be handled with as promptly as possible and I will do my part to obtain sponsorships. Tying in with more career opportunities, I would like to reach out to smaller companies for collaboration, be it sponsorships or internships as low-risk high-reward ventures. I will try my best to streamline processes for payees too.
