Having joined IC gliding in October, I found a welcoming community and have formed friendships based on shared memories and a passion for gliding. I have since become fully involved in society life, coming to appreciate the all-hands-on-deck approach to management, which has helped the committee maintain the organization needed to run trips regularly. Some of you may even know me from trips, where I am always available to answer questions or give some advice on which lunch option to pick at the clubhouse, as well as assisting during ground handling of gliders around the airfield. Behind the scenes, I have been assisting with maximising number of students we can bring on trips, ensuring availability of transportation. Additionally, my frequent trips to Lasham have placed me in the unique position to be familiar with many of the gliding instructors. I have already collaborated closely with both the ICGC committee and Lasham, to secure instructors for some of our trips. As your ICGC secretary, I will continue to expand on collaborative ties between our club and Lasham’s instructors to ensure as many students possible get to fly and experience the joy of gliding, the way I have as well. As secretary, I hope people will come to see me as a dependable, friendly person who is receptive to any new ideas, concerns, or expectations you have regarding ICGC life. A vote for me as secretary, is a vote for a flying start to ICGC in the coming year!
