Hi, I’m Te, a 3rd year medic running to be your next Men’s 1s captain! Despite officially joining ICSM Tennis this year, it’s been such a pleasure to be part of an eventful society and an even more wholesome community that my only regret is not joining earlier. I’ve met wonderful people, made amazing memories, and want to give back to the club and take on the challenge of continuing the great legacies of past captains and committees as best I can!
I believe I recognise the organisational challenges of captaincy and am ready to tackle them. As 1st pair at school with experiences being coached 1-on-1 and in squads, alongside planning international medical student exchange this year as part of AMSA committee, I have developed logistics, leadership and communication skills I aim to employ in running 1s training sessions and scheduling fixtures.
I intend to:
- Give a strong sense of structure to training sessions, and maximise turnout
- Organise drills focussing on their relevance in match play contexts/scenarios
- Foster and incentivise healthy competition during practice to ensure engagement and productivity
- Continue to develop relationships with our professional coaches
- Integrate a strong community sense within team and whole club e.g. liaising with social secs and CC for more socials!
- Put out our best performances at league and cup fixtures, developed through practice and also match play via intra-team and intramural tournaments
- Facilitate transparent, constructive and responsive communication between captains and team
- Most importantly, have fun and play loads of tennis!
