Surgical: Chair

Dear Members,

We are excited to announce our candidacy for Surgical Society Co-Presidents. With a combined experience of over four years within the society as Trauma Chair, General Executive and subcommittee, we are confident in our ability to lead SurgSoc to new heights.

We have since developed a comprehensive set of initiatives aimed at enhancing the educational and networking opportunities available to members, which are outlined below;

  • SurgSoc Audit Program: a program where medical students are paired with doctors based on their specialty interests, allowing them to contribute to audit and quality improvement projects.
  • Surgical Society Outreach Day: a basic surgical skills/medical school portfolio day with guest speakers for prospective medical students, thereby introducing them to the field of surgery.
  • Surgical Skills Series: a national CPD-awarded teaching program comprising eight sessions aimed at equipping students with essential surgical skills.
  • Networking Receptions: more opportunities for members to connect and collaborate through networking receptions, fostering a supportive and inclusive community within SurgSoc.
  • Collaboration with External Institutions: we intend to strengthen our existing partnerships with institutions such as The Dukes Club (CSD) and ASiT (FSS) while exploring new collaborations with organizations like the Stanmore Rotation (OSD), Rouleaux Club (VSD), BAPRAS (PSD) and others to expand our resources.

Our primary goal as Co-Presidents is to bring SurgSoc closer to its members and provide meaningful surgical training experiences. We are committed to implementing these initiatives and ensuring that SurgSoc continues to thrive.

Thanks for your consideration and see you next year!
