Alex Nam
Biochemistry: Treasurer
I’m Alex, a first-year Biotechnology student, and I’m running for treasurer of the Biochemistry Society in 2024/25.
As your treasurer, I will provide:
- Democratic budgeting – Through polls and questionnaires, I will ensure that our money is spent on events that matter to you most. By working closely with the rest of committee, I will financially prioritise our most popular events.
- Financial transparency – Think we’re spending too much on free pizza? Want more drink tokens at socials? By publishing half-termly financial reports, you will have full knowledge over where our money is spent and a say in its direction.
- Sponsorship assistance – potential sponsors are often concerned about the allocation and use of their monetary contributions. I will create detailed budget proposals to equip the Sponsorship Officer with the tools needed to acquire new sponsorships and raise additional funds.
With my skills and experiences, I am confident that I can deliver on these promises, having:
- Chaired the Clubs and Societies committee in sixth form.
- Negotiated a budget of £1000 and managed its fair distribution to each society.
- Justified spending decisions to the Board of Governors.
- Most importantly of all, I am very experienced in MS Excel (thank you first-year coursework).
With efficient financial management and targeted spending decisions, Biochemistry society will continue to provide high-quality events and support for all.
