Hyejeong Kang
Hi everyone, I’m Hyejeong!
I am a first-year biochemistry student with a passion for connecting with others, and what better platform would there be for that than social events. My goal is to organise engaging events for the community, from ones that blend our passion for academics to ones that give us well-deserved breaks to unwind.
For social events, I aim to organise interdepartmental events to showcase our member’s talents from arts activities to sports showdowns. I also plan to organise parties, balls, arts and crafts nights, etc. These events will not only be within Imperial, as I aspire to collaborate with other London universities to expand our network as well.
For the academic aspect of my duties, I would plan career workshops to offer an insight to career planning and focus on giving students opportunities to network with industry professionals and ask questions. I would also organise academic mentorship mixers where biochemistry students can meet and connect with leaders within the community, including professors, researchers, and senior students for academic guidance.
My background as a house captain and prefect has provided me with the necessary experience to plan a diverse range of large events from interhouse music competitions to charity events like beach clean-ups. I have made great memories and friends at events hosted by the committee. Now, I want to give back to the community by organising fun events so others can experience the same.
