Prachur Khandelwal
Hello, my name is Prachur! Having dedicated myself to the subcommittee this year, I have gained invaluable insights into the society's operations and have witnessed the dedication and hard work that underpin all events. Alongside this, I have prior experiences organising conferences with 250+ attendees in school and, more recently, was a part of OncoSoc and MedTech’s subcommittee. These experiences have endowed me with the leadership, communication, and collaborative skills necessary to excel in this role.
I have a few ideas for different workshops/programmes for the upcoming year that would help all my like-minded peers further explore the surgical world and see if it is appropriate for them. For instance, I would love to start an event that caters to the specific needs of attendees. It would involve a range of workshops and lectures relating to at least three different specialities, and attendees' preferences would be used to allocate them to the appropriate workshops.
Moreover, my tenure as a finance officer for Student MedAid London has equipped me with the financial acumen required to manage budgets and secure sponsorships, which would help bring the society’s ideas to fruition. Additionally, being Imperial's BMA representative has enabled me to come into contact with medical students across the UK, which could help with planning collaborative events.
In conclusion, I humbly seek your support as I aspire to serve as a general executive of the surgical society. If elected, I pledge to further build on this year's successes and elevate the society members' experiences.
