Abith Kamath
Hi everyone!
My name is Abith, currently a 2nd year medic, and I'm running for the position of Executive Committee this year.
You might recognize me (with a new haircut) from the subcommittee, where I gained valuable insights into Surg Soc operations. Organising the Orthopaedic Skills Day with the current Gen Execs honed my skills to maximise our impact. My responsibilities involved emailing sponsors, coordinating with demonstrators and speakers, and facilitating smooth transitions between practical stations. Additionally, I served as an assistant demonstrator during the Trauma Conference, supporting Miss Jennings and Dr. Greenfield.
Beyond Surg Soc, I have also developed key organisational and financial skills throughout my tenure as JB Treasurer in Indian Society as well as in my role as School Academic Officer for In2MedSchool.
Going forwards, I would love to implement some ideas such as reintroducing the iconic Vascular Surgery Skills Day, where delegates can have hands-on practice with angioplasty, stenting and arterial line insertions. My involvement in the Surgical Spotlight series last year led me to connect with Mr Shaloub and Mr Quarto, who I hope to invite to the conference.
In terms of education, implementing question banks for CPA, CSI, and other curriculum-based modules would directly address student needs. Additionally, aligning CAS teaching in the JAS module with CPA-related mocks ensures coherence between teaching and assessment.
Working with everyone in the society this year has been a pleasure and I’m committed to elevating every event to its fullest potential.
I hope to secure your vote :)
