Dean Chughtai
Hey everyone, I’m Dean, a third-year medic running for SurgSoc's executive committee next year. Having spent the last year on committee as webmaster, I developed my skills through making the trauma website to boost awareness and sales as well as assisting with technical support for events ensuring their smooth execution. Alongside this, I have had extensive experience with the running of events and an exposure to the work and skills necessary, something I believe has prepared me best for this role.
This exposure was furthered in previously being on the Plastics subcommittee where I developed an understanding of event management and as an external research officer for SORA, where I had the opportunity to organise my own event and facilitate research opportunities for members. Through these experiences, I have constantly honed my skills in collaboration, management, and organisation. Clear and effective communication with all members of the committee, alongside dedication to supporting others with my own expertise, has underpinned my tenure in these roles.
Looking ahead to the upcoming year, I am excited about the prospect of further contributing to SurgSoc. Building upon my experiences in the society and my involvement in other roles, I am eager to bring fresh ideas and initiatives, with a particular focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
With my dedication and passion for both the society and surgery as a career, I anticipate the opportunity of being an executive committee member for SurgSoc next year.
