Max Matta
Hi everyone! My name is Max and I am an ideal candidate for executive committee as I am hugely passionate about surgery and have valuable skills and experience to bring to SurgSoc.
My strong leadership, problem-solving and teaching skills make me ideal for the role. In 2021, I orchestrated a 60-person charity marathon and organised a clothing collection for refugees in Lebanon involving 3 local schools. This involved leading a team of 10, liaising with charities and shipping companies, and utilising in person and virtual strategies to drive donations. I have also been a member of Imperial's Right to Play committee, responsible for the annual UH sports night involving 1,700 students from all 5 London medical schools. As well as organisation and leadership, these experiences have helped me become adaptable and work to event deadlines. I was also publicity officer for Meeting of the Minds, promoting and helping organise the UK's largest university neuroscience conference, and a MedEd crashcourse tutor for both phases 1a and 1b. Both have helped me develop effective communication and collaboration skills.
Surgical society's mock CPA, mock spotters, tutorials and conferences have helped me massively throughout university and I would love to give back to the society, and wider ICSM community. I am hoping to study the Surgical BSc next year and plan to develop relationships with surgeons which I can use to help organise society events.
Overall, my experience and skills coupled with my passion for surgery make me the perfect candidate for this role.
