Khumo Karas
I would love to be the secretary of ICOGS!
I am confident in my organisational skills, which are essential for managing administrative tasks and seamless coordination of meetings and events. My experience as Social Secretary for ICSM Music Society underscores this, as orchestrating events for one of the largest societies demands prompt planning, effective communication, and strategic foresight to ensure success.
Verbal and written communication is paramount in liaising with society members, the committee and external collaborators. As ICSM ladies' 1s Hockey Captain, my role requires effective communication to ensure team punctuality and commitment through regular emails and in-person reminders. For my team to excel and foster motivation, I have learned the essentials of engaging team talks, which can translate to committee meetings.
My involvement in various university teams, notably the ICSM ladies' 1s hockey squad and the ICSM orchestra, underscores my dedication to teamwork, patience, and respect, resulting in successful matches and concerts, experiences that I would bring to ICOGS committee to create a collaborative and positive environment.
Demonstrating effective time management, I have successfully juggled multiple time-consuming roles within ICSM societies whilst tutoring, emphasising the importance of prioritisation and planning. As secretary, I would implement a shared calendar for the committee to facilitate cohesive planning and goal alignment.
I am committed to the society's mission, reflected by my current ICOGS publicity officer role, my attendance at the society events, and my passion for the medical field.
