Evelyn Cannon
Hey everyone, I’m Evelyn! I’m currently a first year BMB student looking to become more actively involved in BMBSoc and I believe the role of treasurer best encapsulates my abilities and qualities. Those who know me often describe me as dependable, responsible, realistic, and enthusiastic; I believe these qualities bode well for me bridging the gap between the enthusiastic brainstorming of activities and the practicality of making these ideas happen within the financial constraints. I have excelled in the role of treasurer before, for a non-profit organization called Teenworks in high school. My role included planning team excursions, managing sponsorship money, and authorizing my team members' ideas in accordance with the budget. Similarly, this past winter break I volunteered at a nursing home in rural Thailand to help raise sponsorship money and budget this money across their multitude of costs. Another of my notable achievements was running an interscholastic Rube Goldeberg competition for the Society of Women Engineers, where I was set a very limited budget yet had very ambitious ideas thrown my way. Spolier alert, it was a success! I believe my previous experience with smaller clubs will pave way for me to be an effective treasurer for BMBSoc and would really appreciate the opportunity to challenge myself in this regard. Just in case that hasn't convinced you, I have been in charge of budgeting my family holidays since I was 15! (tell me you're the eldest daughter without telling me, am I right?). Thank you for your consideration!
