Aishah Anjum
Hello! I'm Aishah and I'm running for secretary. As a medical student with experience of having mental health conditions, I have a personal connection to neuroscience and its impact on wellbeing. My fascination with neuroplasticity, which I've read many books on, fuels my belief in the brain’s endless potential. In a similar vein, I would like to explore my own potential by becoming secretary.
This role requires skills in communication, organisation, and time management, which I’ve shown by working as a clinical research scientist during my gap year. I worked under pressure to meet a daily quota of booking patient appointments, plus communicate responsibly with patients and GP staff to ensure patient safety was prioritised. I also maintained strict confidentiality while diligently entering data for analysis.
Other skills needed include leadership, commitment, and teamwork. My current positions as the representatives for both the Horizons Department and Spanish Languages have given me these. I have chaired meetings, taken meticulous minutes, and collaborated with colleagues to manage a team. Furthermore, I’ve created and distributed feedback surveys via email to 300 students and liaised with staff members to implement programmatic changes.
If elected, I will enhance engagement through newsletters while ensuring data protection, and support the organisation by taking minutes and working as a team. With my skills and enthusiasm for neuroscience, I’m confident in my ability to excel as secretary. I’d be incredibly grateful for the opportunity to create a noticeable difference.
Thank you for considering me!
