Kiana Najafi
Hello everyone! I'm Kiana, currently in my third year, and I am thrilled to be running alongside Zara for the role of President of ICSM Vision.
Growing up without any familial ties to the medical field or guidance through the medical application process in this country, I found the journey to be both challenging and isolating. In 2019, my personal experience inspired me to start teaching and supporting students with their GCSEs and applications to medical school. Zara and I connected through the Dr Me ICSM Vision volunteering project, where we attended primary schools to widen participation and teach children the basics of self-care. After witnessing the positive feedback from children attending these sessions, we were inspired to elevate ICSM Vision's impact and raise awareness of its initiatives. We're especially passionate about introducing the wonders of a medical career to younger kids as well as to older medical school applicants.
Zara and I have dedicated time to speak with the senior conference chair, gaining insight into the workings of the committee and hoping to build on their current successes. Our focus is on expanding the society's reach and promoting programs such as Dr Me to a wider audience. Drawing on my close connection with numerous students within years 11 and 12, I aim to use this network to significantly enhance awareness of junior medic conferences and other events. We believe we can use ICSM Vision to create a growing interest in medicine and empower the next generation of healthcare professionals.
