Zirong Song

Hey guys! My name is Song. I am currently a second-year student.

I am very keen on running for this academic officer role, as I enjoyed delivering teaching sessions to the younger years, especially POM. I hope to expand this further by incorporating more tutors and teaching sessions, rather than focusing solely on exam-style questions. If we are not able to find enough tutors, I want to start prioritising delivering in-depth immunology teaching sessions instead.

I ran the hematology teaching session this year. From my experience, questions that tests the understanding of a concept is more difficult to teach as it would require the tutor to explain the entire topic. Having multiple questions that tests different topic can be overwhelming during a short time frame. I hope to introduce a greater focus on teaching, and supplement it with questions related to the class.

In regards to my qualifications, I was a previously a director for a tutoring charity of more than 100 people, spearheading the quality assurance and teaching department, and have experiences leading various clubs. I am confident in my ideas, proactivity and teamwork in leading the academic face for this society.
