Teesta Maulik
Immunology: MBBS Academic Officer
Hi - my name is Teesta! I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this evolving society as Core Committee Member and I would like to take on the MBBS Academic Officer Role. I remember struggling with POM a lot in year 1 and also forgetting Immunology after Year 1, so I would like to cater to the needs of all students - Year 1, older years and Immunology enthusiasts!
I will:
- Cater to student doubts by asking for student suggestions for topics to be covered concisely at the start of each SBA-style tutorial
- Invite lecturers involved in the iBSc to help students understand what careers in Immunology for doctors would look like
- Continue the SBA question bank and recruit qualified question writers
- Immunology Recaps for older year students
I am qualified because:
- I have spoken with the previous academic officer and I am aware of the challenges faced in this role and potential solutions to avoid them. I believe in using communal checklists, risk management with contingency plans, segmentation of tasks, constant communication, progress tracking using designated measures of success and efficient prioritisation.
- A BTEC in teamwork has enabled me to work with different personality types empathetically and understand team dynamics.
My duties as Publicity Officer, Specialty Liaison and Head of Strategy, Core Committee Member, and Subcommittee for SORA, GPSoc, ImmunoSoc and SurgSoc respectively have equipped me with the key teamwork, communication and organisational skills to work with the team to make this society a bigger success this year!
