Sudharshan Palaniappa
Hi everyone! Our names are Sudharshan and Yashwin, and we are second-year medical students running for co-leads of the National Conference.
We plan to revive the National Conference, making it the cornerstone event of SORA’s commitment to advancing research. We have a few ideas to steer the conference towards new heights of collaboration and impact:
- Leverage on our network with students of other academic institutions to establish a joint research conference
- Interdisciplinary collaboration sessions where medical students work with students from other disciplines to foster innovation and approach healthcare challenges from multiple perspectives
- Hands-on research workshops including laboratory techniques, clinical research methodologies and bioinformatics analytics.
- Research poster competitions where students are judged by experts in the field
- Mini speed networking session for students to discover research opportunities
More about us:
I’m Yashwin and I’m involved in respiratory research at St. Mary’s Hospital, where I work with top researchers. This has improved my research skills and network which is key to delivering a national conference. I was also charity lead for my school, which has perfected my leadership skills and placing me in a good position to lead a national conference.
I’m Sudharshan and I’ve been in the committees/subcommittees of multiple societies at Imperial, including SORA. I have thus developed the organisational and leadership abilities to lead a large-scale conference. Having gone through mandatory military service, I can also collaborate with others well and work under pressure to deliver results.
