Simi Adewale
Hi, I’m Simi, a second year medic running for psychsoc events officer!
Why me?
My role as an Executive Producer for the award winning film "Nexus," about eating disorders, demonstrates my commitment to successfully addressing relevant issues in creative ways. In the promotion of the film I was involved in a roadshow of premiers across the UK, an Imperial Instagram takeover, and even featured on BBC Health radio. This, alongside attending many award ceremonies has given me a great insight into what large scale event planning involves and how to effectively run a successful public event. As Events Officer, I aim to incorporate educational components into enjoyable events.
A few of my ideas:
- Film Screenings: Host screenings of thought-provoking mental health related films with facilitated discussions led by students, and psychiatry experts.
- Ethics debate: Facilitate debates on psychiatric ethical dilemmas and controversies, such as involuntary treatment and autonomy of vulnerable patients.
- Clinical Case Conferences: Organise case conferences where members can present and discuss challenging clinical cases, coming up with management plans.
- Mental Health Hackathon: Organise an incentivised hackathon where members can collaborate to develop creative solutions aimed at addressing mental health challenges within the community.
Overall, I'm committed to organising a diverse range of events with the rest of committee. As Events Officer, I'll strive to bring fresh ideas and explore unconventional event formats, keeping our events dynamic, engaging, and relevant to our members' interests and aspirations.
I look forward to hopefully being your events officer next year!
Simi :)
