Hello, my name is Heidi and I’m excited to be applying for this role.

I would love the opportunity to be elected for this role due to my strong interest in this field; as my number one choice of career path in medicine I can use my passion to help unearth this in others. The limited teaching we receive in phase 1 excludes a large number of students from learning about possibly the right speciality for them and in the role of publicity officer I could advertise and highlight exciting opportunities for others.

Personally, I am well versed in using multiple platforms of social media and have experience in creating various forms of content which is appealing to the appropriate audience.

There are several ideas that I could bring to the role of publicity officer, including:

• Restarting and maintaining the current twitter profile to maximise engagement on multiple platforms
• Creating a tiktok account to reach current ICSM members and also promote the society to incoming freshers
• Create different forms of content on Instagram, for example polls, practice questions, facts, advertising for events and summary content pages.
• Showcase opportunities for medical students across all platforms

All of these points above will provide the opportunity for follower growth and to build connections with other people within the field, e.g. other clinicians and psychiatry societies at other medical schools to build a strong network of like-minded individuals.
