I firmly believe that connections are essential for getting through life as they are valuable opportunities to cultivate important relationships with others. It is this belief that motivates me to run for external liaison officer to connect ICUMS members with our external partners. My background as a student ambassador in charge of coordinating events in both Help International School and Sunway College will be useful in fulfilling the tasks I’ll have to carry out as I hope to put my communication, organizational, and leadership skills to good use. I am also someone who does not want to restrict my career to my degree which led me to be more career-driven as I would prefer to keep myself open to other career paths and step out of my comfort zone to pursue future endeavors. I aim to host a wider range of career events for members that are not just interested in engineering or finance or consulting. For example, I plan to host more events relevant to bioscience students pursuing academia or research who want to hear from researchers or pharmaceutical companies. I take pride in my Malaysian heritage as ICUMS has helped significantly in making London feel like home and I aspire to provide career opportunities for every one of our members, from first years to final year members as I believe maintaining connections with alumni (ICAAM) is important as we can leverage their support for event activities to reduce the committee’s workload.
