Devangi Vyas
Hello everyone! I’m Devangi, a second year medic hoping to represent you as dermatology society’s academic officer. My personal journey has ensured a lifelong acquaintance with this field of study - being born with extreme atopic dermatitis has led dermatology to shape my experiences, aspirations and passion to improve treatment. Although our professors are leading researchers in the field, the speed and depth of content they share with us can make understanding complex concepts difficult, so we need good digestible tutorials.
These are my proposed initiatives:
- Deliver succinct graspable tutorials with interactive case-based teaching and promote discussion on emerging advancements.
- Work with experts to develop and improve educational resources for members such as comprehensive study guides, question banks and crash courses covering key concepts to foster a culture of continuous learning.
- Collaborate with other academic and industry experts to facilitate better research opportunities, knowledge exchange and mentorship within the field.
- Enhance educational resources so members develop cutting-edge knowledge in topics beyond the curriculum via workshops, socials and conferences so those with particular interests can cultivate their passions.
I am excited to bring my passion to our society and work with you to make meaningful contributions to the field of dermatology. Thank you for reading my manifesto and I hope you vote for me!
PS: My favourite derm book is ‘The remarkable life of the skin’ by Monty Lyman so if you’re looking for refreshing perspectives on skin ageing and skin-mind interactions, I’d give it a read!
