Evelyn Cannon

Hey everyone, I’m Evelyn! I’m currently a first year Medical Biosciences student and am interested in the role of biomedical representative for ICSM SORA. Those who know me describe me as being responsible, dependable, enthusiastic, and a great communicator, all qualities that make me an effective team player and advocate for my peers. As someone who is passionate about pursuing research and academia in the future, ICSM SORA is a society that really caters to my interests and ambitions. However, I was oblivious to the existence of this society during my first term at Imperial and noticed that SORA isn't as effectively advertised to BMB students as it could be. I hope, as biomed representative, I can change this for upcoming first years by advocating for the society through group chats, social media, and by word of mouth. I already know a handful of upcoming imperial biomed students who share similar interests with me and have already influenced them to consider joining the society. Through countless discussions with my coursemates, I have realized that there is high demand for more conferences and events catered towards biomedical research as well as careers fairs for those keen on careers in research and academia. I am ready to bring these ideas, and many more, to the table and am enthusiastic to bridge the gap between ICSM SORA and BMB; I strongly believe we can unanimously benefit from each other.
