Maelle Storder
As a candidate for the biomedical representative for the Soceity of Research and Academia, I hope to bridge the gap between our society and BMB students to ensure that everyone voices and opinions are heard.
My past experiences in leadership positions will enable me to successfully carry out this role. Currently, I am the co-leader and treasurer in the organization SWIFT (Sustaining Women in Financial Turmoil) where I successfully coordinated fundraising initiatives reaching out to global organizations, all contributing over $150k towards issuing loans and $2.5k for Low-Income workers through various fundraising events. Previously, I was treasurer of NHS (National Honour Society), where the team created events to raise over 2.5k$ for Low-Income workers by reaching out to different organisation to help with our mission to use the money and donate food. Alongside these roles, I was co-leader and treasurer of WebGo, where I organized multiple conferences by inviting professional coders to talk about their work.
In addition I am part of the promotional team of Immunology subcommittee and was promotional officer for the School of Medicine Phoenix Ball. Within these roles I collaborated with students across various years to plan events for the student body, underscoring my commitment to reaching out to different people to coordinate new and exciting events.
If chosen as biomedical representative next year I intend to use my experiences to contribute to the society's success by reaching out to BMB students ensuring that events are catered to their interests as well allowing for maximal participation.
