Melita Crasta
Heyaa! My name's Melita, and I'm excited to be running for the position of Research Coordinator in the Clinical Genetics Society. I am deeply passionate about advancing the field of clinical genetics and fostering a community of innovation and collaboration. My involvement in organising strikes in Liverpool for Youth Strikes 4 Climate(YS4C), has honed my leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Moreover, my experience as a YS4C organiser has enabled me to lead impactful climate strikes that mobilised hundreds of individuals, garnered significant media attention, and raised awareness about the pressing need to address climate change. These experiences have honed my skills in organisation and leadership.
I aim to:
-Explore funding sources such as grants or partnerships to support innovative research projects within the society.
-Collaborate with other student societies or community organisations to organise joint events.
-Allocate a portion of the society's resources towards funding student-led research projects, providing mentorship and guidance, and creating opportunities for students to showcase their research findings.
-Implement an open-book policy where everyone has access to financial reports, research data and project updates.
