Ira Upadhye
Hello! I am Ira, a 4th year medical student intercalating in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
I have a great passion for this subject, owing to its versatility and evolving nature, and would be honoured to be your Chair!
Why I Am Suited:
• I would be able to build on my current experiences as this year’s education officer. Coordinating organisation of a regional teaching series has allowed me to gain a strong understanding of committee structure, teamwork skills and building rapport with speakers and participants.
• I can leverage my personal connections to several high profile gastroenterologists that I have met over my iBSc course and clinical placements.
• I can foster a strong committee collaboration with my proven experience in 10+ societies/committees over the past 4 years.
• I can provide extensive iBSc coursework support for intercalating students in their various coursework assessments.
How I Will Grow The Society:
• Launch a mentorship program connecting members to research and clinical opportunities under practicing gastroenterologists.
• Host career-focused talks covering topics like private practice, working abroad, with speakers drawn from my network of clinicians and past event experience.
• Introduce an in-person, national conference which includes hands on workshops, e.g. endoscopy simulations.
The difference between these plans and their successful execution is your vote! Thank you for your time and consideration.
I would be honoured to be your chair next year!
