Hi, I'm Yash! I'm thrilled to run for President of Imperial Jain Society.
Aim: This society means a lot to me, so i'd love to create a genuinely welcoming group where we make Jainism relevant to us uni students, through engaging events!
My Vision: Having attended most of the Jain inter-university events this year, I know how it feels to make friends in Jain Soc that have similar values! Even though Jainism is not well-known, the Jain values, presented by inspiring people, can spark a small spiritual, individual journey! Regular, fun socials are definitely planned!
Why me? I've been involved in the London Jain community for as long as I can remember: from learning fundamentals at Jain school, to leading my high-school's Jain society, to volunteering in India and seeing true Jain values in people. Building the website "Jain Treasures" has been incredible (it explores Jain scriptures in simple English!) I'm fortunate to know great London community contacts, useful for events (+Indian snacks!!).
Events!! More community-first, selfless service events - e.g. feeding the homeless brings everyone together, regardless of faith! I have some interesting events lined up: such as: Kuntal Joisher - the world's first vegan Jain to climb Mount Everest; Kishan Shah - professional spoken-word poet and performer, Nipun Mehta - expert in random acts of kindness e.g. Karma Kitchen, two Jain nuns who can provide a workshop on meditating to reduce stress! And an interfaith panel too!
I'm passionate about making Jain Soc the best one yet - thanks so much for voting!
