Veena Saravanan
Hi, I’m Veena and I would love to be the Education Officer for Coding Society. I benefited greatly from the online Python course run by Coding Society and it has since motivated me to explore other coding languages independently, expanding my skills. Recognising the pivotal role of coding in modern medicine, I believe regular online tutorials demonstrating how coding is used within the medical profession, and a speaker series with doctors showcasing real-world applications will provide invaluable insights into the importance of coding. Furthermore, I believe we should implement an online lecture series focusing on other coding languages, such as R, which is increasingly being utilised in the medical profession. I firmly believe that bridging the gap between coding and medicine is essential, not only for advancing medical practice but also for equipping future healthcare professionals with the tools necessary to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world. Coding proficiency empowers doctors to engage in medical research and develop innovative solutions to clinical challenges as well as enable them to analyse data to facilitate personalised patient care. My passion for education is evident in my previous initiatives to organise a conference for 100 medical students and doctors, featuring diverse medial and surgical workshops. Overall, I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all members can develop their coding skills and contribute meaningfully to the field.
