Jasmine Fung
Hi! I’m Jasmine Fung, a second-year Biochemistry student. I have done BSL Level 1 in first year and am currently taking BSL Level 2 for i-explore. Unfortunately since BSL is not available for third year, what better way to continue using sign language than to join SignSoc Committee?
I believe that I would make an amazing teaching officer, as I am responsible, passionate, and organised. I’ve consistently had a good balance of academic work and social life while staying committed to my clubs and leadership roles, but I know how far my limits can go and when to say no. When I agree to do something, I always do it as soon as possible with my best effort. However, I hold myself accountable for my actions if there are any mistakes and quickly find solutions. I’ve also had teaching experience through being a maths tutor and technical instructor for Mahjong Society this year. In my i-explore sessions, I enjoy lifting up the mood and engaging with my classmates.
I am so glad and have genuinely enjoyed learning more about BSL and the D/deaf community at Imperial so much, and I hope to raise awareness for inclusivity of the community and the benefits of sign language. I hope to bring my enthusiasm for BSL to SignSoc as teaching officer, and to support my committee wherever I can. Thank you for your consideration :)
