Dharun Srirathan
Médecins Sans Frontières is an essential organisation in providing medical assistance to those who are suffering in catastrophic world tragedies.
By running for vice president of events, I would love to spread awareness and raise interest in the important work that MSF does. Having chaired the TedX talks at my school, I have experience in being able to organise the different elements involved in running a successful event, providing me with invaluable organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, having been in charge of organising multiple fundraising events to raise money for charity, I was also able to develop my communication skills as well as my adaptability skills by being able to overcome the challenges posed whilst running these events.
I really love the different events that are currently being run, such as the Mapathon and the Film night, and I would love to continue hosting these. Some ideas I had for future events include:
1. Having doctors from MSF come in to give a Q&A session, where students will be ask these doctors questions about their experiences.
2. Providing participants with the opportunity to pretend to be a part of MSF, where they would have to go around and treat simulated patients with common conditions found in the underprivileged countries that MSF is a part of.
I believe that all of these skills, as well as my passion and commitment to this society, will ensure that I will be able to run many successful events to help grow this society.
