Yashwin Shyam
Hi everyone! Our names are Yashwin and Sudharshan, and we are 2nd year medical students running to become co-leads for the Young Researchers Conference.
With a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and the advancement of young researchers like ourselves, we are both committed to bringing the conference to new heights next year. We plan on implementing the following:
- Mini speed networking session to enable students to expand the network and discover research opportunities.
- More engaging workshops about:
- Collecting and analysing data – introducing data analysis techniques using popular tools such as R, Python and SPSS
- Writing research proposals – providing tips on crafting clear research questions, developing a compelling rationale, and structuring impactful proposals.
- Collaborating with more sponsors from the network of organisations and individuals we have developed.
More about us:
I’m Yashwin and I’m currently involved in respiratory research at St Mary’s Hospital, where I work with top researchers. This has not only improved my research skills, but also vastly improved my network which is key to delivering a good conference. Furthermore, I was charity lead for my school, which honed my leadership skills and would place me in the perfect position to lead a conference.
I’m Sudharshan and I’ve been in the subcommittee for SORA this year, helping to deliver the YRC among other events. This, along with the experience I have accumulated from other societies, has made me familiar with the ins and outs of running a conference.
Please consider casting your vote for us! Thank you!
