Hey everyone! I am thrilled for the oppurtunity to run as the Events Lead for MedTech next year!
Having attended some of the MedTech events, I can honestly say that the way in which I view the intersection of medicine and technology has been redefined. Through my research project as part of the HEARTSAFE study I have been forced to organise a plethora of data using data handling software; an endeavour that I hated initially and have since come to enjoy, making me realise the teaching gap in our current curriculum that doesn't educate us on the ways in which technology can be utilised to make our work easier. Via this society, I would like to further education about the ways in which technological advancements are revolutionising preventative, diagnostic and theraputic approaches in medicine ranging from genome editing via CRISPR-CAS9 to creating bespoke treatments tailored to patient needs. I strive to curate a Speaker Series that brings together leaders, experts and innovators across diverse sub-disciplinaries within healthcare technology that showcases the transformative potential of technology followed by hands on workshops that incorporates the theory with the practicality. Additionally, I aim to organise coding bootcamps to demystify learning coding languages for academic projects which can be a daunting task for many. I would like to integrate student voice led discussions, serving as an oppurtunity for them to present their own projects and as feedback to tell us what events they would like to see in the future.
