Chelsea Brown
Dear Voters,
My name is Chelsea Brown. I am a 4th year medical student currently undertaking a Cardiovascular Sciences BSc. With a passion for academia and a background in research, I am eager to contribute to our small academic community as the External Research Coordinator.
As an Academic Representative for Cardiovascular Sciences, I have had the privilege of representing the interests of my peers and advocating for positive change within our academic programme. Therefore, I will work collaboratively with students to coordinate research opportunities tailored to their interests.
As a Clinical Research Associate at Inovus Medical, I have gained valuable experience in conducting research, analyzing data, and contributing to the advancement of surgical knowledge. I have presented posters at two national conferences, as well as an oral presentation at SORA's own national conference and have had an abstract publication, further solidifying my commitment to academic research and dissemination of findings.
If elected as Academic Research Officer, I aim to:
-
Promote research collaboration and interdisciplinary research by creating a personalised application process where students can be matched with potential project supervisors based upon research interests, allowing them to overcome the initial barriers of networking and collaborate with students, faculty, or external partners, to foster innovation and creativity in their research endeavors.
-
Support research skill development by providing training and workshops on research methodologies, coding, data analysis techniques, and scientific writing to enhance the quality and impact of their research projects, and encourage academic independence.
Thank you for your consideration,
Chelsea Brown
