I am running to be the Dr Me project lead.
I truly enjoyed the experience and every school visits we had. It has been rewarding to read the feedback from children on what they have learnt about self-care and them spreading that knowledge to their families. I have gained extensive experience in running Dr Me visits this year, including reaching out, liasing with schools, recruiting volunteers and ensuring the visits run smoothly. I would love to contribute and continue with Dr Me next year, bringing improvements to the project based on my experience.
There are 3 major areas I hope to improve next year:
1) Sourcing widening medicine participation schools - I have started to reach out to outreach team to look for more schools in the local area where our visits would be beneficial. I hope Dr Me project could benefit more children, creating a greater impact.
2) Expanding the resources: I am designing a booklet to include key information of the workshops so children have something to take away, as well as designing workshop specific stickers to gauge interest in children.
3) Increasing the no. of volunteers: run training session per term to allow more volunteers to get involved; arranging taster sessions (1 hr) at the start of each term to allow volunteers to gain an insight into what Dr Me involved.
I hold myself responsible with good organisation and time management skills. With my compassion, enthusiasm and dedication, I would love to be part of the committee!
