Delisha Rusia
Hi, I’m Delisha and I’m a first year med student. So far I’ve absolutely loved the events done by Hindu society, and I’ve really enjoyed being part of such a warm community. I've met so many new people who have made me feel extremely welcome after a big change of starting university.
Next year I would love to be a part of the team and organise incredible events so that more people can have the same amazing experience I’ve had. Some ideas I’ve had so far are a Makar Sankranti kite festival and a Come Dine with Me: Indian version, where we can experience food from different parts of India. I have plans to embezzle funds from the Treasurer to make sure that Hsoc will be packed with events you’ll never forget.
As head of Hindu society in sixth form, I have had lots of experience in hosting events. One of my favourites was “Utsav”, a multicultural event night collaborating with several schools across Manchester, where we raised £2800 for charity to build a library for a school in Gujarat. Similarly, my role as Head Girl in sixth form has taught me the leadership and teamwork skills necessary to complete projects, and these skills would transfer into organising the most memorable events.
With me as your events officer, I hope to create a vibrant and enriching year for all of Hindu society.
