Society of Research and Academia: Research Skills Academy Lead
In an era defined by constant innovation and discovery, I want to develop a deep sense of passion for research among students. Especially being at Imperial, one of the world’s best research institutes, I want to make sure students get the best experience out of it.
Having carried out research projects in the past and currently carrying out research at the respiratory department in St. Mary’s hospital, I believe I can guide this research-based society towards success.
My manifesto revolves around 3 main principles:
- Empowerment – I want to empower every Imperial student with the knowledge, opportunity and skills needed to carry out their research pursuits. As research skills lead, I will create these opportunities through brand new workshops, seminars and even taster sessions, where students shadow researchers for a week or so to gain an in depth understanding of research.
- Innovation – I want to give all students the opportunity to be as innovative as possible in research, this would involve competition type events like hackathons – where students with the best ideas get an opportunity to be further involved in research.
- Advancement – I want to give all the students a chance to advance in the field of research, this would involve organising personalised career development programs, mentorship schemes and perhaps even funding opportunities.
I want to elevate the experience of research and give all students an equal opportunity to carry out research. As research skills lead, I promise promote a culture of inclusivity within our research community.
