Teesta Maulik
Hi - I'm Teesta and I'm a second-year medic! When I prepared for interviews for medical school, I remember looking through all the societies and picking SORA to talk about and I remember discovering the Research Skills Academy and wanting to join it. Research can often appear to be very daunting and too difficult to pursue and the prospect of now applying to be the RSA Lead would truly be an honour. Having been part of the SORA committee for the past year, I want to continue our mission to make research more accessible and equip more students with the skills they need.
I hope to:
- Invite speakers who have been previously engaged well with teaching and are qualified to teach in the level of detail beginners will need.
- Incentivise maximum attendance by awarding the top 3 students with a project with a willing supervisor!
- Increase attendance by being more inclusive of BMB students.
I am qualified because:
- I have experience with the research process from conception and I understand the topics needed for the lecture series.
- As a proactive networker, communicating with different personalities has afforded me opportunities at HSBC and KPMG and will aid me in recruiting speakers.
My duties as Publicity Officer, Specialty Liaison and Head of Strategy, Core Committee Member, and Subcommittee for SORA, GPSoc, ImmunoSoc and SurgSoc respectively have equipped me for the organisational nature of this role. I hope to contribute to making SORA an even bigger success!
