Hi - I’m Teesta and I’m running for HaemSoc Chair! From achieving the second prize for our first Haematology Conference in Year 1 to being a tutor and part of the Subcommittee in Year 2, I have always been a part of the HaemSoc. I’d like to remain part of this society’s journey and help it flourish. My vision for the Haematology Society is to bring Haematology to the forefront of students’ minds as a career option and offer professional events to facilitate learning and exploration.
I will:
- Establish relationships with the British Society of Haematology, Faculty and Charities to create a presence and request workshops or sponsorships.
- Organise a shadowing work experience scheme in collaboration with local Haematology Departments.
- Continue high-quality tutorials and create surveys to address students’ needs to cater to as a society.
I am qualified because:
- My duties as Publicity Officer, Specialty Liaison and Head of Strategy, Core Committee Member, and Subcommittee for SORA, GPSoc, ImmunoSoc and SurgSoc respectively, equip me for the varied nature of this role.
- Through my BTEC in teamwork and organising my events this year, I have learned to use communal checklists, risk management with contingency plans, segmentation of tasks, constant communication, progress tracking using designated measures of success and efficient prioritisation.
I understand that this role is diverse and requires many different skills. However, my greatest strength is my initiative to grow from feedback, problem-solve and adapt to an unfamiliar environment. I hope to contribute to making HaemSoc an even bigger success!
