Having attended MMA Day this year, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being a mock interviewer and assisting with logistics and setup to ensure the conference ran smoothly. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for the event's purpose and its importance to prospective medical students. Sharing Vision's passion for widening participation in medicine, I have been a mentor for In2MedSchool, Brightside, and ran masterclasses on ZeroGravity. I am eager to contribute further to widening medicine participation by organizing conferences in the coming year.
The success of the event was largely due to the effective communication and strong organizational skills of the team. I pride myself on my responsibility, organizational abilities, and time management skills, as demonstrated through my roles with AMSA, TBH, and Dr Me Project Lead. My experience in these positions has honed my ability to work efficiently and adapt to changing circumstances, ensuring smooth operations and effective coordination.
If elected as conference chair, I pledge to:
- Organize Early: Ensure all logistical details are meticulously planned
- Recruit Volunteers and Speakers early to ensure a well-rounded and high-quality event
- Optimize Workshop Timings: Ensure precise scheduling to maintain a smooth flow, minimizing delays
- Ensure Team Wellbeing: Prioritize wellbeing of the team and volunteers by better communicating start time of event and allowing for adequate breaks
I am confident my compassion, enthusiasm, and dedication will be valuable assets in the role. I am excited about the opportunity to lead and contribute to an event that inspires and supports future medical professionals.
