Rohan Bhupal
Immunology has been a great interest of mine, even before starting medical school, and this is something that I would like to organize on a greater scale. The immune system is simply the most fascinating thing about the human body. My ideas include:
- More social events throughout the year, such as networking at the start of the year, meet the committee (pizza social), and more combined events with infectious disease society and oncology society to integrate immunology across multiple specialties.
- Expanding the current combined IDsoc immuno soc conference to include more societies as mentioned above to create an even larger conference with a more diverse range of speakers, as well as more practical workshops
- Expand the tutorial series to include more years of medicine beyond the POM series, with a focus on 3rd year conditions and 5th year pathology; Introduce a mentoring scheme for teaching.
- Introduce a careers panel and networking reception to advertise careers in immunology.
My previous experience of being treasurer in oncology society has shown my dedication to running and managing an academic society. I have also been president of Punjabi Society and social secretary of South Asian Society and Medics Cricket, where I organised events for other 1000 people such as the Bhangra Showdown, showing my organizational, time-management, and managerial skills. Vote Rohan for ImmunoSoc chair!
