Abigail Tan
Hello! I am Abigail/ Yun Hui, and I am running to be Publicity officer for Personalised medicine! Personalised medicine has been my long-standing interest, in fact I opted for the Personalised Medicine i-Explore module and it was the topic I chose to present for my GP student-led tutorial too. Publicity and media is also my interest, as I am passionate in creating outreach and scientific content and attract more people to come for the eye-opening conferences.
I was the official photographer for the Reconstructing the Stereotype and Microsurgery conferences in iPRAS. In addition, as publicity representative for my high school’s mathematics interest group, I created Instagram posts and newsletters that make math theorems interesting through visuals and real-life applications. I believe these skills are transferable to enable me to create effective, attention-grabbing publicity material for Personalised Medicine society.
Having been part of iPRAS subcommittee and SurgSoc for the past year, I helped in tasks from procuring conference supplies, refreshments and set up/ cleanup, to ushering and interacting with delegates and demonstrators. This has given me a deeper understanding of the logistics, coordination and flow needed to run conferences. I believe I am equipped to step up and lead more conference preparations for personalised medicine society.
I aim to gatherpersonal stories of how personalised medicine has impacted people and incorporate it for social media outreach, and post fun facts/trivia on personalised medicine, to increase visibility and outreach on this important aspect of medicine that is the core of patient-centric care.
