It is with great enthusiasm that I nominate myself for the position of Social Secretary of the EFDS Society. I am committed to putting in my utmost effort to ensure we all enjoy the entertaining activities we need and deserve.
Firstly, to enhance student engagement and satisfaction with term activities, I will send out polls at the beginning of every term which will allow students to select the activities they would like to see take place. Examples of such events include golf, mini-golf, bowling, go-karting, pub nights, dinner parties, and even clubbing! I will of course do my best to ensure as much of the costs are subsidised as possible.
My aim is to host a minimum of three events per term. These will of course take place at appropriate periods throughout each term to avoid any clashes with deadlines and events hosted by other societies. I hope to maximise attendance and ensure these activities are enjoyable for everyone involved!
I also believe there is potential to host joint social events with societies from other universities such as the Economics Society at UCL. By combining our resources, we can organise larger, more exciting events that would also serve as valuable networking opportunities for all attendees.
Moreover, I plan to host a welcome social for the incoming first-years at the start of next year. This would provide an excellent opportunity to for us to get to know them and help them feel integrated into both our society and university in general.
