Hi! I’m Begum and I want to be your academic representative to be of aid in your first year at Imperial. Previously, I was in my school’s student council for 3 years as a level representative (and as a member of the office, assuming the role of the Secretary). I really enjoy relaying feedback and then providing solutions to common problems through discussions. I think there are 3 key points to being a good representative: collecting feedback, sharing it with necessary staff and relaying the outcome to students represented- all of which I had experience with.
I would love to use this experience to enhance our academic life. While I have my fair share of agenda items to bring to the table in our first meeting (lecture lengths, content, issues with using Blackboard etc.) my main goal is to convey your thoughts to the relevant academic staff. As your academic representative I will have a Google Form that will stay open throughout the length of the year in order to collect your feedback, anonymous if you wish. I will also share minutes/notes from our meetings, as soon as we have them, because you deserve to know how your problems are being handled. Lastly, I promise to always be open to feedback from you to improve the ways I represent you!
