Thea Jakobi

Council Representative (PG Medicine)

Hi there, my name is Thea!

Here are my three commitments as your Representative to Council:

  1. Advocate for You: I will actively transmit your feedback to the council, ensuring clarity and accountability.
  2. Ensure Transparent Communication: I'll set up a Google Docs complaint form to make it easier for you to share concerns and follow developments.
  3. Accessible and Approachable: I am an open-minded presence on campus making it stress-free for you to voice complaints at any time.

As an international student, I am acutely aware of the need to align the value of our education and experience to the investment we make. This will be the driving force behind my serving as your voice to the council.

My experiences have prepared me well for this role. Let me share a few:

  • Mental Health Support Volunteer for Shout: I dedicate at least 2 hours weekly to providing support for people experiencing emotional distress, honing my skills in listening and sharing actionable solutions to improve well-being.
  • Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this Summer: Reaching the summit of the world’s highest free-standing mountain taught me valuable lessons about resilience.
  • Transition Mentor at my undergraduate university: I acted as a bridge between staff and first year students acclimatising to UCL.

I am really excited about the prospect of representing postgraduates in the Faculty of Medicine and hope to earn your support. Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto. Feel free to reach out to me at thea.jakobi24@imperial.ac.uk!
