LGBTQ+ Students: Welfare Officer

Hey everyone! I’m Madhura, and I’m super excited to be running for LGBTQIA+ Student Welfare Officer this year!

Everyone deserves a space where they feel safe, supported, and celebrated for who they are. And as someone who has experienced bias firsthand, I understand how important it is to have a strong, supportive community, especially at university.

I’m passionate about making sure everyone feels supported and safe at Imperial. In my previous workplace, I have actively advocated for LGBTQIA+ rights and led Pride marches, and I want to bring that same energy to help create positive change for all of us.

If I’m elected, I’d focus on:

  • Mental Health & Wellbeing: Making sure we have access to mental health support that’s specific to our needs, and that it’s easy to find help when we need it.
  • Inclusive Events: Creating more fun, welcoming spaces where we can all connect and feel comfortable being ourselves, whether through social events or more informal meetups.
  • Raising Awareness: Working to make the wider Imperial community more aware of LGBTQ+ issues by running campaigns and collaborating with other groups on campus.

I’d love to represent you as a Welfare Officer. I’m currently studying MSc Management in the Business School, so if you see me around, come say hi! I’d love to hear your thoughts and chat about how we can make our community even stronger. Let’s work together to make this a year where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered!
