Students with Disabilities: Campaigns Officer

Hi, I'm James, and I'm a third year Chemistry student, and the cofounder and Vice President of Neurodiversity Society. I'm running for the role of Campaigns Officer because I am passionate about improving the experiences of disabled students on campus. As someone with multiple hidden disabilities, I understand the unique challenges we face, and I am committed to making sure our voices are heard, our needs are met, and our community is fully supported. I believe that disabled students should be the ones making decisions that affect us, and the Disability Network plays an important role in making sure we can all be supported. As Campaigns Officer, my goal will be to raise awareness of disability on campus, and make our university more accessible, inclusive and equitable.

I will work closely with the university to implement and enforce zero-tolerance policies on ableism to ensure that discrimination against disabled students is dealt with quickly and efficiently. I will also aim to promote and raise awareness of disability rights, inclusive practices, and anti-ableism measures. Finally, I want to work with the Careers Service and CSPs to make activities more inclusive by making reasonable adjustments so all students can participate.
